Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs? Do you have experience supporting pupils with autism, communication difficulties and a range of complex learning needs? Are you a patient, resilient and nurturing SEND Teaching Assistant who can provide consistent support while encouraging pupils’ independence?
TeacherActive is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school based in Northolt, West London. The school provides a supportive and inclusive environment for pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. Staff work closely together to provide highly personalised support, helping pupils develop their communication, confidence, independence and engagement with learning.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and the wider SEND team to provide individual and small-group support. You will help pupils access learning, manage their individual needs and develop important academic, social and life skills.
The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will:
- Have previous experience working with children or young people with SEND
- Ideally have experience supporting pupils with autism and communication needs
- Be confident providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Be able to adapt activities to meet individual learning and communication needs
- Support pupils with their social, emotional and independence skills
- Use a calm, patient and positive approach to behaviour and engagement
- Be comfortable supporting pupils with varying levels of need
- Work effectively alongside teachers, therapists and other professionals
- Have a strong understanding of safeguarding
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to complete a new application
