This widely recognised College boasts fantastic media equipment, sports facilities and a proven track record in students going on to further education or full-time employment.

Role and Teaching Hours

We are looking for a Hairdressing lecturer to deliver approximately 22 hours of teaching per week. In addition to the teaching hours, there is an expectation that the lecturer will attend our face-to-face team meetings every Friday from 12:00pm–2:00pm.

  • All teaching will take place at our Longbridge Campus.
  • Friday meetings (12:00pm–2:00pm):
  • First half term – Longbridge Campus
  • Second half term – Hall Green Campus - then alternated between the two campuses.

Teaching Responsibilities

The successful candidate would be a Personal Tutor for two groups:

  • Level 1 Hairdressing – 16–18-year-olds
  • Personal Tutor responsibilities
  • Theory lessons
  • Tutorials
  • Practical skills
  • Level 2 Hairdressing – 19+ students
  • Personal Tutor responsibilities
  • Theory lessons
  • Practical skills

In addition, they would teach a further Level 2 Hairdressing group for 16–18-year-olds on Tuesdays, focusing on practical skills.

Planning and Resources

Tutorial lessons have already been planned and designed by our Quality Team. The lecturer would therefore only need to adapt the existing resources to meet the needs of their students. Theory and practical lessons have also been planned through the Schemes of Work, although the lecturer may need to develop or adapt some of their own teaching resources.

Additional Responsibilities

The lecturer would also be expected to:

  • Mark formative and summative theory and practical work.
  • Undertake Personal Tutor responsibilities.
  • Monitor student attendance and follow up with students where attendance issues arise.
  • Contact parents/carers where required regarding attendance or other relevant concerns.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the Hairdressing team.

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate must:

  • Have experience teaching Hairdressing students up to Level 3.
  • Hold a Level 3 Hairdressing qualification.
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable Qualifications, but not essential

  • Level 3 Assessors Award
  • Level 5 Teaching qualification
