TeacherActive is proud to be working with mainstream secondary schools across Gateshead and South Tyneside that are looking to appoint dedicated Teaching Assistants - SEND. These schools are committed to creating inclusive learning environments where every student is supported to succeed both academically and personally.

The schools are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant - SEND on a long-term basis to support students across KS3 and KS4. The successful Teaching Assistant - SEND will work closely with individual students with SEN and SEMH needs, providing 1:1 support, encouraging engagement in lessons and helping to promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.

The successful Teaching Assistant - SEND will have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and SEMH needs
  • Experience working within a secondary school setting or similar environment
  • A patient, nurturing and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • The ability to support students on a 1:1 basis and adapt to individual needs
  • A proactive and positive attitude towards supporting learning and development
