TeacherActive is proud to be working with a fully SEND school in Gateshead that is committed to providing every pupil with a personalised education. The school offers a nurturing and inclusive environment where pupils are supported to overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and achieve their individual potential.
The school is looking to appoint a SEN English Teacher with an ICT specialism on a long-term basis, with the potential for the role to become permanent. Working four days per week (9:30am to 4:00pm), the successful SEN English Teacher will provide dedicated 1:1 support, delivering engaging English and ICT lessons to pupils with a range of SEND needs who are working below age-related expectations, adapting learning to meet individual abilities and promoting both academic and personal progress.
The successful SEN English Teacher will have:
- QTS or QTLS with an English specialism (ECTs are welcome to apply)
- Experience teaching English and ICT within a secondary or SEND setting
- Experience supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills with the ability to build positive relationships on a 1:1 basis
- A patient, adaptable and compassionate approach to teaching
- A commitment to raising achievement and promoting confidence in learners
