About Your Role: We are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Tutors/Mentors to support children and young people through personalised, one-to-one or small-group learning programmes. You will deliver tailored education packages designed to re-engage learners and support both academic progress and personal development. Working across community, home, or educational settings, you will adapt your approach to meet individual needs, ensuring learning is purposeful, motivating, and accessible. There are possibilities of working on both a full time and part time basis, dependent on the role and client needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver structured Maths and English sessions from KS1 KS3, alongside additional subjects aligned with your expertise.
  • Create engaging, learner-centred lessons using a range of strategies and activities linked to students' interests.
  • Support learners beyond academics, acting as a positive mentor to develop confidence, independence, and life skills.
  • Assist young people in preparing for future pathways, including further education, employability, and adulthood.
  • Confidently support learners with a range of SEND, including ASD/ASC, ADHD, and SEMH.
  • Follow agreed timetables and lesson schedules to provide consistency and routine for learners.

What You Bring/Essential:

  • A strong commitment to helping learners re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Reliability and professionalism in delivering sessions consistently within fixed-term schedules.
  • A patient, empathetic approach, recognising the complex journeys many learners have experienced.
  • At least two years experience teaching or mentoring children and young people with SEND in schools, alternative provision, youth work, or private settings.
  • A current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • A sound understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a commitment to maintaining statutory training.
  • Flexibility to travel to assigned locations as required.
