TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEND setting in the Bristol area that provides high-quality education for pupils with severe and profound learning difficulties, complex needs, autism, sensory processing differences, and behaviours that challenge. The school’s provision offers an enhanced, highly personalised environment for pupils who require specialist support to regulate, communicate and engage positively in learning.

We are looking to appoint a SEND LSA who is compassionate, resilient and truly child-centred. You will play a key role in helping pupils access a bespoke curriculum tailored to their individual needs, supporting not only their academic progress but also their communication, emotional regulation, sensory needs and social development. This is a setting where every small step matters.

As a SEND LSA, you will work closely with teachers, therapists and other specialists to deliver structured routines, sensory-based activities, and individualised strategies that help pupils feel safe, settled and ready to learn. You’ll use a calm, consistent approach — and plenty of patience — to help pupils manage anxieties, develop independence and build positive relationships. The pupils you support may have complex communication needs, may use alternative or augmentative communication (AAC), or may present with significant behavioural challenges linked to their SEND.

As part of the Nexus team, you’ll help implement personalised support plans, use proactive regulation strategies, and create an environment where every child is understood and valued.

The successful SEND LSA will have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with complex SEND, autism, severe or profound learning needs, or behaviours that challenge
  • A willingness to learn specialist strategies, including sensory regulation, communication support (e.g., PECS, AAC) and therapeutic approaches
  • A calm, nurturing, and resilient nature, with the ability to remain consistent and supportive during challenging moments
  • Confidence working as part of a multi-professional team (teachers, therapists, support staff, external agencies)
  • A proactive attitude and a commitment to promoting independence, communication and emotional wellbeing
  • Ideally, a driving licence or access to transport

In return, you will receive:

  • A dedicated team of consultants available 24/7 to support your placement
  • Guaranteed Payment Scheme (T&Cs apply)
  • Access to My-Progression CPD courses and SEND-specific training
  • Competitive, market-leading rates of pay
  • A refer-a-friend bonus of up to £100 (T&Cs apply)
  • PAYE payment system with no hidden fees
