TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEMH secondary school in Maldon, Essex, to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant. The school provides a supportive and nurturing environment where students are encouraged to develop both academically and personally, with a strong focus on wellbeing, inclusion and positive outcomes.

The school is looking to appoint a permanent Teaching Assistant on a full-time basis. The successful Teaching Assistant will support students aged 11-16 with SEMH needs, both within the classroom and through targeted interventions, helping to promote engagement, positive behaviour and successful learning experiences across the curriculum.

The successful Teaching Assistant will have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges or additional needs
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with students
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A patient, resilient and proactive approach
