TeacherActive is seeking experienced Complex Needs Teachers to work in a specialist Chester setting that supports pupils with Autism, moderate learning difficulties, social and communication needs, and a range of associated complex needs. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across formal, semi-formal, and informal curriculum pathways.
  • Plan personalised learning based on EHCP outcomes and ongoing assessment.
  • Teach small groups and individual learners, promoting independence and functional skills.
  • Work collaboratively with Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Support Specialists, and wider staff.
  • Embed therapeutic strategies and Positive Behaviour Support into daily teaching.

  • Maintain accurate records, contribute to reviews, and communicate effectively with families and external agencies.

Person Specification

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Strong experience working with a range of SEND, including ASC, MLD, SLCN, SEMH, and complex needs.
  • Clear understanding of formal, semi-formal, and informal curriculum design.
  • Experience with personalised learning approaches, e.g. EQUALS, SCERTS, structured teaching, or bespoke curriculum models.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
