Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant with a passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs? Do you have the resilience and confidence to manage challenging behaviour while building positive relationships? Are you looking for a long-term Learning Support Assistant role with the opportunity to secure a permanent position?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist alternative provision based in the Liverpool area. The setting provides a supportive and nurturing learning environment for pupils aged 11-16 who require additional support to re-engage with education, placing a strong emphasis on positive relationships, inclusion, personal development and helping every student achieve their potential.

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated Learning Support Assistant on a long-term basis from September, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right Learning Support Assistant. The successful Learning Support Assistant will work closely with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, supporting both their learning and emotional wellbeing while confidently managing challenging behaviour and promoting positive outcomes.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs
  • Proven experience managing challenging behaviour in an education or care setting
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach to behaviour management
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a wider staff team
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to reach their full potential
