TeacherActive is proud to be working with local authorities and alternative education provisions across Leicester to recruit dedicated Tutors to support children and young people who are unable to access mainstream education. These pupils may have SEND, SEMH, physical disabilities, medical needs, or barriers to learning that require a bespoke approach to education.
We are looking for Tutors to work on a full-time basis, delivering approximately 15 hours of tuition per week. The successful Tutor will provide 1:1 support in locations including pupils' homes, education centres, and local libraries. Sessions will focus on Maths, English and Functional Skills, using tailored resources, adaptive teaching strategies and Pre-Key Stage assessments to track and celebrate small steps of progress across both Primary and Secondary age groups.
The successful Tutor will have:
- QTS or a minimum of 6 months' experience delivering 1:1 tuition
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs
- Strong knowledge of Maths, English and Functional Skills
- Experience adapting learning for pupils working below age-related expectations
- Knowledge of Pre-Key Stage assessment and progress tracking
- A patient, resilient and flexible approach to learning
