Working with Children with Past Trauma and ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) – Special Educational Needs and Mental Health (SEMH) Focus:

At our organization, we recognize the importance of addressing the unique needs of students who have experienced past trauma and ACEs. The successful Learning Mentor will play a crucial role in providing specialized support to children facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Key responsibilities in this regard include:

– Trauma-Informed Approach: Implementing a trauma-informed approach to support students who have experienced adverse childhood experiences. This involves creating a safe and supportive environment that acknowledges and responds to the impact of trauma on learning and behavior.

– Individualized Support Plans: Collaborating with educational professionals to develop and implement individualized support plans that cater specifically to the social, emotional, and mental health needs of students. This may involve working closely with external agencies and professionals.

– Behavioral Intervention: Utilizing effective behavioral intervention strategies to address challenging behaviors stemming from trauma or emotional difficulties. This includes employing positive behavior management techniques and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
