About the Role: An excellent secondary school in Lewisham is looking for a dedicated and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment while playing a key role in delivering high-quality education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver planned learning activities and cover lessons for whole classes, small groups, or individual pupils in accordance with school policies and curriculum requirements.
  • Support students' learning by providing targeted academic intervention and tailored support for pupils including those with additional needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour and high expectations, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
  • Work in partnership with teaching staff to support lesson planning, assessment, and the tracking of pupil progress.
  • Provide high-quality classroom cover in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring learning objectives are met and continuity is maintained.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including pastoral support, safeguarding responsibilities, and enrichment activities.

Requirements:

  • HLTA qualification or substantial experience in a similar role within a secondary school.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • A good understanding of the secondary curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
