The school is looking to appoint a Head of History on a long-term basis from November, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right Head of History. Reporting to the Head of Faculty for Humanities, the successful Head of History will lead the department, develop an ambitious and well-sequenced curriculum, monitor teaching and student achievement, support the development of colleagues and drive standards across all year groups, including GCSE.

The successful Head of History will have:

• QTS with a relevant History specialism
• Successful experience teaching History within a secondary school, including GCSE
• Experience of raising standards, monitoring progress and improving pupil achievement
• Excellent subject knowledge and the ability to model outstanding classroom practice
• Strong leadership, communication and behaviour management skills
• The ability to motivate, support and develop teaching and support staff within the History department
