Are you an experienced Headteacher with a strong background in SEMH and specialist education? Do you have the leadership skills to open, shape and develop a brand-new school? Can you inspire staff, students and stakeholders to achieve outstanding outcomes?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a brand-new SEMH school based in the B12 area of Birmingham. The school will provide a safe, inclusive and ambitious environment for students with social, emotional and mental health needs, with a clear focus on outstanding outcomes, safeguarding and positive behaviour.

Role Overview

The school is looking to appoint a permanent Headteacher from September who will lead the strategic and operational development of the provision, shape the curriculum, lead safeguarding, develop staff, meet Independent School Standards and drive the school towards the highest possible Ofsted outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic and operational development of the new SEMH school.
  • Shape and deliver the curriculum for students with SEMH needs.
  • Lead safeguarding, child protection and ensure compliance with Independent School Standards.
  • Develop and manage staff teams, providing motivation and professional growth.
  • Plan and implement school improvement initiatives and assessment strategies.
  • Ensure rigorous quality assurance and continuous improvement of teaching and learning.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least three years' experience as a senior leader within special education or the independent sector.
  • Strong knowledge of SEMH, safeguarding, child protection and the Independent School Standards.
  • Experience of curriculum development, assessment, quality assurance and school improvement planning.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop staff teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, resilience and a clear commitment to securing outstanding student outcomes.
