TeacherActive is working with a welcoming and supportive SEND school in Harlow that is looking to appoint a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team. No previous school experience is required. Full training and ongoing support will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to begin a rewarding career in education, SEND, care, youth work, or support work.
If you already have experience supporting children or adults with SEND, Autism (ASC), or PMLD, or have completed SEND-related training, this would be highly advantageous.
About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and specialist staff to support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and complex learning needs. You will help create a positive, engaging, and nurturing learning environment where every pupil has the opportunity to thrive and achieve their individual goals.
Responsibilities
- Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
- Assist with classroom learning and engaging educational activities.
- Encourage positive behaviour and promote independence.
- Support pupils with their social, emotional, communication, and physical needs.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and the wider school team.

- No previous experience is required – full training is provided.
