Salary: £95 - £115 per day

Do you have experience supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs? Are you confident supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour and require additional support to engage with their education? Can you build positive relationships with young people while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a Key Stage 3 / KS3 and Key Stage 4 / KS4 Pupil Referral Unit in Runcorn, providing education for pupils who have been permanently excluded or require support outside of a mainstream school environment. The setting provides a safe and supportive environment focused on respect, personalised learning and helping pupils develop the confidence, independence and skills required for their next steps.

The school is looking to take on a dedicated Teaching Assistant from September on a long-term basis, with the opportunity to move into a permanent position for the right Teaching Assistant. The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils across the curriculum, encourage positive engagement with learning, manage challenging behaviour and provide additional support to pupils with SEMH and individual learning needs.

The successful Teaching Assistant will have:

  • A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable
  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour or additional needs
  • Experience working within a school, PRU, Alternative Provision or similar setting is desirable
  • Strong behaviour management and the ability to establish clear boundaries
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A patient, resilient and adaptable approach
