TeacherActive is proud to be working with a range of supportive schools and specialist provisions looking to recruit experienced and dedicated SEND & SEMH Specialist Teaching Assistants for full‑time roles. This is a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate and resilient individual who is passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and behavioural challenges.
The Role
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional learning and behavioural needs.
- Support students with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and challenging behaviour.
- Help create a safe, positive, and nurturing learning environment.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
- Promote emotional regulation, confidence, and positive behaviour strategies.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external professionals.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND and SEMH needs.
- Strong behaviour management and de‑escalation skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
- Availability to work full time, Monday to Friday.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one through TeacherActive).
