TeacherActive is proud to be working with a number of outstanding SEND Specialist Provisions across Liverpool, supporting children and young people with a wide range of additional needs. We are currently looking to recruit dedicated, compassionate, and resilient Learning Support Practitioners (LSPs) to join our growing bank team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in specialist educational settings that support pupils with a variety of needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Physical Disabilities, Down Syndrome, Sensory Impairments, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and other complex learning needs. We also work closely with SEMH provisions, supporting young people who have experienced trauma, display challenging behaviour, or struggle with emotionally-based school avoidance. The Role: As a SEND Learning Support Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their individual goals.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Confidence supporting individuals with challenging behaviour and emotional regulation needs
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
- At least 6 months experience within education, care, youth work, support work, or similar settings (essential)
What You’ll Do:
- Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities
- Encourage positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced barriers to education
- Support students with communication, social interaction, sensory needs, and personal development
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Adapt your approach to meet a wide range of individual needs and abilities
