Are you an experienced BSL Trained Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role in a supportive Primary School? Do you have the skills to communicate confidently using British Sign Language and support children with ALN? TeacherActive is proud to be working with a fantastic Primary School in Swansea that has a dedicated ALN unit supporting children with a range of additional learning needs. The school is committed to providing an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to thrive and develop through high-quality support and positive relationships.

The school is looking to appoint a BSL Trained Teaching Assistant on a long-term temporary basis from September 2026. The successful BSL Trained Teaching Assistant will work closely with pupils who benefit from BSL communication, supporting their learning, independence and engagement throughout the school day while working alongside the class teacher and wider ALN team.

The successful BSL Trained Teaching Assistant will have:

  • BSL qualification or proven experience using British Sign Language
  • Previous experience supporting children within a Primary School or ALN setting
  • A good understanding of supporting pupils with additional learning needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, caring and proactive approach
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
