Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to education? TeacherActive is proud to be working with Gloucestershire Alternative Provision and the Local Authority to recruit a Mentor to support young people accessing education outside of mainstream settings. Through a flexible and personalised approach, the provision focuses on helping learners build confidence, improve engagement, and achieve positive educational outcomes.
The service is looking to take on a Mentor on a long‑term basis with an ASAP start. The successful Mentor will provide both mentoring and educational support to young people accessing Alternative Provision, working within home and community settings to promote wellbeing, engagement, attendance, and progression. The Mentor will develop positive relationships, encourage personal development, and support learners to achieve their individual goals.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience working with children and young people in an educational, youth work, mentoring, or support capacity
- Experience supporting learners with SEMH, SEND, behavioural needs, or those at risk of disengagement
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
- The ability to work independently and adapt support to meet individual needs
- Strong organisational and record‑keeping skills
- A patient, resilient, and proactive approach
