Are you an experienced Secondary Teacher with a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs? Can you use a nurturing, adaptive approach to engage pupils who may have experienced disrupted or challenging educational journeys? Are you confident teaching across the secondary curriculum while building strong and trusting relationships with young people?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist school in Gloucester supporting pupils aged 7-18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs. The school provides a nurturing and therapeutic environment with very small class sizes, high staffing ratios and a supportive, values-driven staff culture focused on helping pupils rebuild their confidence and engagement with education.

The school is looking to take on an Experienced Secondary Teacher on a full-time basis from September 2026. The successful Experienced Secondary Teacher will lead a small mixed-ability KS3 / KS4 class of around 7-8 pupils, teaching across the curriculum with support from experienced teaching assistants while contributing to pupils' academic, social and emotional development.

The successful Experienced Secondary Teacher will have:

  • QTS and completion of the 2-year ECT induction
  • A minimum of 3 years' post-qualification teaching experience
  • Experience teaching across the secondary curriculum
  • Strong behaviour management and safeguarding knowledge
  • Experience of SEMH / SEND or trauma-informed practice is desirable
  • A full manual driving licence
