Functional Skills Tutor

TeacherActive are looking for a Functional Skills Tutor to work in a specialist alternative provision in Derby.\\n\\nExperience working in a school setting and experience with SEND pupils is essential.\\n\\nQTS or QTLS is preferred but not essential as attitude, personality are absolutely key.\\n\\nDesirable Attributes:\\n\\nHave an ability to teach functional skills in English & Maths.\\n\\nHave experience working with young people\\n\\nBe highly organised with excellent communication skills\\n\\nHave a desire to work with, inspire and support children\\n\\nHave an interest in supporting young people with a variety of additional needs\\n\\nHave experience supporting children with additional needs (desirable not essential)\\n\\nBe a part of the school team taking part in the wider school environment\\n\\nHave an understanding of behavioural management\\n\\nBasic Role Description\\n\\nTeaching Basic Skills in an SEND provision to pupils of varying abilities\\n\\nSupporting children during lessons/school activities\\n\\nSupporting staff/children during lunch and break times\\n\\nManaging pupils personalised learning based on their individual need.\\n\\nDelivering 1:1 or small group activities\\n\\nCollecting evidence of children’s work to support their assessment\\n\\nProviding physical management and care of pupils\\n\\nThe setting supports young people in KS3 & 4 who have been permanently excluded or are on the verge of permanent exclusion from mainstream schools. The aim is to either re integrate these young people back into mainstream schools/post 16 education/ apprenticeships or training through personalised education plans.\\n\\nAll applicants will be contacted to discuss suitability and then invited to register with TeacherActive.\\n\\nRegistration involves an enhanced DBS check, ID checks and will require you to supply good professional references.
