A supportive Further Education college in Burton upon Trent is seeking an experienced Lifeskills / Foundation Studies Lecturer to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role is suited to a passionate and resilient educator with strong experience supporting learners with severe and complex SEND needs.

Working in partnership with TeacherActive, the successful candidate will deliver engaging, learner-centred provision designed to develop independence, communication, and employability skills for learners with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver Life Skills and Foundation learning programmes tailored to learners with severe SEND
  • Support learners with complex needs including communication difficulties, learning disabilities, and sensory needs
  • Create inclusive, structured, and engaging learning environments that promote progress and independence
  • Assess learner progress using appropriate methods and maintain accurate records and reports
  • Work closely with support staff, therapists, and wider curriculum teams to meet individual learner needs
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, EHCP requirements, and Ofsted standards
Requirements:
  • Proven experience teaching learners with severe and complex SEND in an FE or specialist education setting
  • Relevant teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of differentiated teaching strategies and person-centred learning
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills
  • Commitment to inclusive education and learner wellbeing
