Salary: £165 - £210 per day

Are you looking for a fantastic new opportunity for September? We are looking for an experienced SEND teacher who is available ideally from the end of June 2026 (however this can be flexible for September), for a long-term placement. For the right candidate, this could become an extended opportunity leading the provision within an Enhanced Learning Provision, the Discovery Hub.

The successful candidate would be supported by two experienced additional adults and would play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of complex communication and learning needs. Ideally, we are looking for a SEND teacher who already has knowledge, understanding and, where possible, practical experience in some of the following areas:

  • Strong understanding of communication and language development
  • Use of visual support systems including:
    • Now and Next boards
    • Symbols and photos
    • Visual timetables
    • Makaton
    • Communication / ALD boards
  • Everyday functional communication approaches
  • Breaking information into manageable chunks with calm repetition of instructions
  • Colourful Semantics
  • SCERTS (Social Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support) evidence-based approach
  • Modelling turn-taking through motivating games and activities
  • Intensive Interaction
  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) strategies
  • Use of objects of reference
  • Multisensory teaching approaches, for example:
    • Sand, shaving foam and water play
    • Tapping out sounds
    • Active learning strategies
    • Air writing and sensory tracing
  • Pre-tutoring of key concepts
  • Attention Autism (Bucket Time)
  • Zones of Regulation
  • Fine motor activities such as Dough Disco
  • Sensory Circuits

These provisions are highlighted within many of the pupils’ EHCPs and form an important part of the daily practice within the Discovery Hub. This role would initially be on a long-term supply contract; however, for the right person, it could become a permanent role within the school.
