TeacherActive is working with a welcoming primary school in South East London who are looking for a confident and enthusiastic Sensory Room Leader to take ownership of their sensory provision. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who understands the importance of sensory regulation and can create a safe, supportive and engaging environment for children with a range of additional needs.
The Role
- Lead and manage the school's sensory room
- Support pupils with a range of SEND needs
- Plan and deliver engaging sensory activities
- Help children regulate their emotions and sensory needs
- Create individualised sensory strategies based on pupils' needs
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and support staff
- Monitor pupils' progress and communicate effectively with the wider team
- Ensure the sensory room is safe, organised and well resourced
- Promote independence, confidence and positive engagement
We're Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with children with SEND
- Has previous experience within a sensory room or similar specialist provision
- Understands sensory regulation and different sensory needs
- Is confident managing challenging situations
- Is patient, calm, nurturing and resilient
- Can build strong relationships with children
- Is proactive and confident taking ownership of a provision
- Is passionate about helping children reach their full potential
Experience working with pupils with autism, ADHD, complex needs or SEMH would be highly desirable.
