Are you a compassionate and engaging Communication Support Assistant looking for a rewarding new role? Do you have a proactive and creative approach to supporting children and young people with additional communication needs? TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEND provision in Bristol that supports children and young people with hearing impairments aged 2 – 16 within a bilingual learning environment. The setting promotes an inclusive and nurturing culture, encouraging pupils to develop communication, independence and social skills through tailored support, specialist teaching approaches and a strong focus on emotional wellbeing.

The school is looking to take on a dedicated Communication Support Assistant on a full-time, term-time ongoing basis starting ASAP. The successful Communication Support Assistant will work closely with students on a one-to-one and small group basis, supporting access to the curriculum and communication development across Early Years, Key Stage 1 / KS1 and secondary age groups.

This role may also be suitable for candidates with experience as a SEND Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Hearing Support Assistant, BSL Support Worker or Inclusion Support Assistant.

The successful Communication Support Assistant will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND or communication needs
  • A patient, friendly and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience supporting students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
  • A creative and engaging approach to learning support
  • BSL knowledge or experience supporting children with hearing impairments is desirable but not essential
