Are you an energetic and enthusiastic Sports Coach looking to transfer your skills into a school environment? TeacherActive is currently recruiting Sports Coaches / Teaching Assistants to work within schools and education settings across Colchester and the surrounding areas. Due to the locations of the settings and travel requirements associated with this role, applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.
The Role
As a Sports Coach / Teaching Assistant, you will use your coaching, communication and behaviour-management skills to support pupils with their education and personal development. Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting pupils within the classroom on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Assisting teachers with lessons and classroom activities
- Delivering and supporting PE, sports and physical activities
- Using sport to encourage teamwork, confidence and positive behaviour
- Supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour or struggle with engagement
- Acting as a positive role model and mentor
- Helping pupils develop resilience, discipline and communication skills
- Supporting children with SEND and additional learning needs where required
- Supervising pupils during break times, activities and sports sessions
- Helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging school environment
The Ideal Candidate
We would love to hear from you if you:
- Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle – essential
- Have experience in sports coaching, PE, youth work or working with children and young people
- Are energetic, confident and able to motivate pupils
- Have strong behaviour-management and communication skills
- Are passionate about sport and its ability to positively engage young people
- Can build strong and professional relationships with pupils
- Are patient, resilient and adaptable
- Are comfortable supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom
- Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Previous classroom experience is desirable but not essential. Sports coaches looking to gain experience within education are strongly encouraged to apply.
