Are you an experienced Year 1 Teacher or a qualified teacher looking for a long-term supply role? Are you available to work full time, five days a week, and commit to a long-term position within a school? Do you enjoy creating a calm, structured and supportive classroom where children can thrive?
I’m currently working with a primary school in Colchester who are looking to appoint a long-term supply Year 1 Teacher to start as soon as possible. This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, running until 17/07/2026.
The Year 1 Teacher role involves full class responsibility, including:
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons
- Managing behaviour
- Assessing progress
- Supporting pupils’ social and emotional development
You will be expected to carry out the full responsibilities of a class teacher, including:
- Attending staff meetings
- Marking books
- Completing assessments
- Attending parents evenings
- Communicating effectively with parents and carers
Working hours are 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
The successful Year 1 Teacher will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching in Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1
- SEMH knowledge or experience is desirable, but not essential
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
- Commitment to a long-term role and being part of the wider school team
- Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one
