Teacher to work with young people aged

13-17 .

The school supports pupils with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs who may find a mainstream school environment challenging.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Teacher who wants to provide young people with the structure, encouragement and positive relationships they need to re-engage with education and reach their potential.

About the Role

As an SEMH Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, accessible and differentiated lessons to pupils aged 13-17.

You'll work closely with Learning Support Assistants and other professionals to provide a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment.

Building strong and trusting relationships will be a key part of the role.

You'll need to understand that behaviour can be a form of communication and use a calm, consistent and positive approach to help pupils manage their emotions, develop confidence and engage successfully with their education.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons.
  • Teach and support young people aged 13-17 with SEMH needs.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
  • Build positive, consistent and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Support pupils who may display challenging behaviour or struggle to engage with education.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and resilience.
  • Create a safe, structured and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Monitor, assess and record pupil progress.
  • Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development.
  • Work closely with Learning Support Assistants and other professionals.
  • Contribute to individual education plans and pupil targets where required.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a relevant teaching qualification.

  • Previous experience within

SEMH, SEND, alternative provision or specialist education would be beneficial but is not essential.
