We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming school in Braintree. This role involves working closely with teaching staff to support pupils with severe learning needs, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential in a safe, inclusive environment.

You will play a vital role in supporting pupils' academic, social, emotional, and physical development, both individually and in small groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support individuals or small groups under the direction of the class teacher
  • Provide tailored support for pupils with learning, behavioural, communication, sensory, or physical difficulties
  • Assist in delivering planned learning activities and adapt them based on pupil responses
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement in line with school policies
  • Support literacy, numeracy, and ICT development
  • Help implement IEPs/EHCPs and monitor pupil progress
  • Provide personal care where required (e.g. toileting, feeding, mobility) following appropriate training
  • Assist with classroom preparation, resources, and displays
  • Supervise pupils during break times and on educational visits
  • Support physical activities such as PE and swimming
What We're Looking For
  • Experience working with children in a school or early years setting
  • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Learning Support/Early Years (or relevant experience)
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety, and school procedures
  • Basic ICT skills

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Understanding of child development and the school curriculum
  • Ability to support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
