TeacherActive is seeking dedicated and experienced Primary SEN Tutors to support pupils across the Enfield area. This role is ideal for passionate education professionals who are committed to supporting primary aged children with additional needs and helping them achieve positive educational outcomes.
As a Primary SEN Tutor, you will be expected to:
- Deliver tailored learning sessions on a 1-2-1 or small group basis
- Support pupils with SEMH, ASD, and other SEND needs
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the Primary National Curriculum (EYFS, KS1, KS2)
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning styles and emotional needs
- Provide tuition in a range of settings, including schools, community venues, and pupils' homes
- Work independently and manage your own sessions effectively
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and their families
- Maintain a calm, supportive, and consistent approach to behaviour and learning
- Communicate effectively with the Alternative Provision and relevant professionals
Each referral is unique, and further role-specific details will be discussed at the next stage. Tutors must be available to start immediately, with a full-time timetable available.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with primary-aged pupils in a tutoring, teaching, or support role
- Previous experience supporting children with SEMH, ASD, or SEND
- Strong knowledge of the Primary Curriculum
- The ability to confidently deliver 1:1 and small-group sessions
- A flexible and creative approach to lesson planning and differentiation
- Good general education in English and Maths
- An undergraduate degree and/or substantial experience working with SEND pupils
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A caring, patient, and practical approach to supporting young learners
- Confidence working across varied environments and locations
- Flexibility with working hours and travel
