TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming middle school in Cheddar that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and practical School Caretaker. The school is seeking a reliable and motivated individual who will take pride in maintaining its buildings and grounds. The successful candidate will help provide a safe, secure and well-maintained environment for pupils, staff and visitors. This is a permanent, all-year position offering 35 hours per week. The precise working pattern will be agreed with the successful applicant.
The successful School Caretaker will be responsible for:
- Completing general repairs and routine maintenance
- Undertaking basic carpentry, plumbing and decorating tasks
- Helping to maintain the school’s buildings, grounds and facilities
- Supporting site security and health and safety procedures
- Monitoring the condition of the premises and reporting concerns
- Working effectively with school staff, external contractors and visitors
- Following relevant compliance procedures and school policies
- Contributing to the continued improvement of the school environment
The ideal School Caretaker will have:
- Practical maintenance and general DIY skills
- Experience of basic repairs, carpentry, plumbing or decorating
- A proactive, organised and dependable approach
- The ability to work independently and use their initiative
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A willingness to learn about school compliance systems and procedures
- A commitment to safeguarding and maintaining a safe environment for children
- Previous experience in a school or similar setting, although this is not essential
