TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist Pupil Referral Unit in East Cardiff to recruit a Teaching Assistant. The provision supports primary-aged pupils and is committed to creating a safe, nurturing and structured learning environment where children can rebuild confidence, develop positive relationships and achieve success both academically and socially.

The school is looking to appoint a full-time Teaching Assistant on a long-term basis from September, with trial days available this term and the potential for a permanent position for the right Teaching Assistant. The successful Teaching Assistant will work within a small class of no more than six pupils with BESD (Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties), alongside an experienced Teacher and an additional Teaching Assistant, supporting learning, behaviour management and emotional regulation throughout the school day.

The successful Teaching Assistant will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people with behavioural difficulties, challenging behaviour, BESD or similar needs
  • Strong relationship-building and behaviour management skills
  • A calm, resilient and patient approach
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Experience within education, care, youth work, residential care or similar settings is desirable
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people to achieve their potential
