TeacherActive is seeking dedicated and experienced Primary SEN Tutors to support pupils across the Camden area. This role is ideal for passionate education professionals who are committed to supporting primary-aged children with additional needs and helping them achieve positive educational outcomes.
The Role – Expectations
- Deliver tailored learning sessions on a one-to-one or small-group basis
- Support pupils with SEMH, ASD, and other SEND needs
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the Primary National Curriculum (EYFS, KS1, KS2)
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning styles and emotional needs
- Provide tuition in a range of settings, including schools, community venues, and pupils’ homes
- Work independently and manage your own sessions effectively
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and their families
- Maintain a calm, supportive, and consistent approach to behaviour and learning
- Communicate effectively with the Alternative Provision and relevant professionals
Each referral is unique, and further role-specific details will be discussed at the next stage. Tutors must be available to start immediately, with a full-time timetable available.
To be considered for this role, candidates must have:
- Experience working with primary-aged pupils in a tutoring, teaching, or support role
- Previous experience supporting children with SEMH, ASD, or SEND
- Strong knowledge of the Primary Curriculum
- The ability to confidently deliver 1:1 and small-group sessions
- A flexible and creative approach to lesson planning and differentiation
- Good general education in English and Maths
- An undergraduate degree and/or substantial experience working with SEND pupils
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A caring, patient, and practical approach to supporting young learners
- Confidence working across varied environments and locations
- Flexibility with working hours and travel
