TeacherActive is currently recruiting a British Sign Language (BSL) Learning Support Assistant to work within a welcoming and inclusive school in Aberystwyth. The Role
- Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a deaf or hearing-impaired pupil
- Use British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate communication throughout the school day
- Support pupils in accessing lessons and participating in classroom activities
- Work closely with teachers and the wider SEN/ALN team to deliver tailored support
- Encourage independence, confidence, and social development
- Help create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment
Requirements
- BSL qualification or proven competency in British Sign Language (Level 2 or above desirable)
- Previous experience working with children or young people
- Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Additional Learning Needs (ALN) is advantageous
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
