The Role

  • Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a deaf or hearing-impaired pupil
  • Use British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate communication throughout the school day
  • Support pupils in accessing lessons and participating in classroom activities
  • Work closely with teachers and the wider SEN/ALN team to deliver tailored support
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and social development
  • Help create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment

Requirements

  • BSL qualification or proven competency in British Sign Language (Level 2 or above desirable)
  • Previous experience working with children or young people
  • Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Additional Learning Needs (ALN) is advantageous
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
