TeacherActive is proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Chingford that is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced BSL Teacher to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and dedicated educator to make a real difference to pupils who rely on British Sign Language as part of their learning experience. This East London school has a heavy focus on SEND inclusion and Deaf pupils, so it is important you have the correct understanding before applying for the role.

The successful BSL Teacher will:

  • Deliver engaging and accessible lessons using British Sign Language (BSL) across EY-KS2
  • Support pupils with hearing impairments to access the curriculum and develop communication skills.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and the SENCO to ensure pupil's educational and emotional needs are met.
  • Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A recognised BSL qualification (minimum Level 2; Level 3 desirable).
  • Experience supporting or teaching children who use BSL, preferably within a school setting.
  • A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
