Are you a qualified British Sign Language (BSL) professional who wants to make a positive difference in an inclusive education setting? Do you have experience supporting Deaf and hard of hearing learners to access education, communication, and wider school life?
TeacherActive is working with a specialist education setting in Bristol to recruit a BSL support worker. The school places accessible communication and inclusive practice at the heart of its approach, creating an environment where learners and staff can participate fully and feel supported.
The role is available on a full-time or part-time basis from September 2026 until August 2027, with the potential to continue beyond this date.
As a BSL support worker, you will provide BSL to English and English to BSL interpretation for Deaf and hard of hearing learners and colleagues. You will support communication across lessons, meetings, training sessions, and everyday school activities, helping to provide equal access to learning and school life.
The successful BSL support worker will have:
- NVQ Level 6 qualification, or equivalent, in BSL interpretation
- Current RSLI or TSLI registration
- Experience interpreting between BSL and English
- GCSE English at grade A to C, or equivalent
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities and use initiative
- Flexibility to travel between school sites when required
