We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic Pastoral Support Officer to join a supportive secondary school environment. The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day running of the school’s Internal Exclusion Room, providing learners with a safe and structured environment to continue learning, reflect on behaviour, and successfully reintegrate into mainstream lessons.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children or young people within an educational setting
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Experience using restorative approaches
- Ability to support vulnerable learners and pupils with ALN
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A calm, professional, and supportive approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion practices
- Enhanced DBS check required for this role
Main Responsibilities:
- Supervising and supporting learners within the Internal Exclusion Room
- Delivering targeted learning tasks and restorative conversations
- Supporting learner reintegration back into mainstream lessons
- Maintaining accurate behaviour records and reports
- Liaising with senior leadership, teachers, pastoral staff, and parents/carers
- Supporting pupils with additional learning and behavioural needs
- Monitoring pupil progress and behaviour impact through follow-up support
- Creating a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
