SEND Support Worker / Teaching Assistant in Braintree

Location: Braintree, Essex Start Date: Immediate Contract: Full-time Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am–3:00pm Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience Are you a caring, patient and proactive individual looking to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with additional needs? TeacherActive is working with a specialist SEND school in the Braintree area that supports pupils with a range of complex learning needs. The school is looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Support Worker / Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in SEND, care, support work, healthcare, youth work or education, as well as individuals looking to transfer their skills into a school environment. The Role As a SEND Support Worker / Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to help pupils access learning and make progress academically, socially and emotionally. Your responsibilities may include: Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups Helping pupils engage with lessons and classroom activities Supporting children and young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities Encouraging communication, independence and confidence Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation and behaviour Assisting with personal care where required Helping pupils during transitions, break times and lunchtimes Following individual support plans and guidance from teaching staff Creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment We Are Looking For Someone Who Is: Patient, caring and resilient Highly proactive and willing to get involved Confident building positive relationships with pupils Calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations Able to follow instructions while also using their own initiative Reliable, punctual and committed Comfortable working as part of a wider SEND team You do not necessarily need previous school experience. Candidates from backgrounds such as care work, support work, healthcare, residential care, youth work, nursery work or SEN support are strongly encouraged to apply.
