About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate and skilled SEN Teacher to join our supportive mainstream primary school. This role is primarily school-based but includes a small number of home tuition hours to support a child in Year 2 who is currently unable to attend school full-time. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring high-quality, inclusive education for pupils with additional needs, working closely with school staff, families and external professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality, personalised teaching for pupils with special educational needs
- Provide individualised home tuition for a Year 2 pupil, ensuring continuity with school-based learning
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet a range of learning, emotional and developmental needs
- Monitor progress and contribute to SEN reviews, reports and targets
- Work collaboratively with the SENCo, class teachers, parents/carers and external agencies
- Create a nurturing, structured and safe learning environment, both in school and during home visits
- Maintain accurate records and uphold safeguarding procedures at all times
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching pupils with SEN, ideally within a mainstream primary setting
- Confidence in delivering 1:1 or small-group teaching, including in a home setting
- Strong understanding of SEND strategies and inclusive practice
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A flexible, empathetic and child-centred approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare
