Do you have experience supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Are you patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships with pupils who require additional emotional support? Can you provide consistent support to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential?
TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEN school in Selly Oak that provides a nurturing and supportive environment for primary and secondary aged pupils with SEMH needs and cognitive and emotional difficulties. The school is committed to delivering personalised support through a therapeutic approach, helping every pupil develop confidence, independence and achieve positive outcomes.
The school is looking to appoint a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant on a long-term basis, with an immediate or September start available. The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will support pupils across both primary and secondary age groups, working closely with teaching staff to promote engagement, manage behaviours positively and provide tailored support both inside and outside of the classroom.
Qualifications- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs
- A passion for supporting pupils with cognitive, emotional and social development
- Strong behaviour management and relationship building skills
- The ability to remain calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A proactive, caring and positive approach to supporting learning
