TeacherActive is currently recruiting experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants / HLTAs and Senior Teaching Assistants for day-to-day supply and long-term contract opportunities across Bristol, Swindon, Somerset and Wiltshire from September 2026. Whether you value the flexibility and variety of daily supply or the continuity of a longer-term placement, we can help you find the right fit.
This is an excellent opportunity to take a leading role in pupil support. You may deliver pre-planned learning activities, provide short-term class cover, lead small-group interventions, support assessment and work closely with teachers and SEND teams to remove barriers to learning. You will model high expectations, promote positive behaviour and help pupils develop confidence and independence.
The successful Higher Level Teaching Assistant / HLTA / Senior TA will have:
- A recognised HLTA qualification or substantial experience operating at a higher or senior Teaching Assistant level
- Experience leading whole-class, small-group and one-to-one learning activities
- Strong behaviour management and the confidence to provide short-term class cover when required
- A good understanding of safeguarding, SEND and inclusive classroom practice
- Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills
