TeacherActive is proud to be working with a SEND school in Nottingham City Centre, supporting with their recruitment for a Social Emotional Mental Health Needs Learning Support Assistant / SEMH LSA. The setting is centred on pupils' development, as well as an intrinsic desire to make progress both academically and with their own emotional, social and behavioural skills.
The school is seeking a passionate team player to take on this short-term role, although there is potential for this to become a long-term placement for the right candidate. The successful SEMH LSA will bring a new dimension and skill set to this role, be keen to develop their own skills to adapt to the children’s individual needs and have a positive impact on the wider school. A proactive thinker with the ability to take control of situations confidently is necessary.
ResponsibilitiesThe SEMH LSA is expected to be a supportive presence in a SEND setting, focusing on the development of pupils’ emotional, social and behavioural skills and supporting their academic progress where appropriate.
Qualifications- Level 2 or 3 qualified and/or a minimum of 6 months experience in an educational establishment
- A calm, patient and caring personal
- Experience with SEMH
- Good communication skills
- A good understanding of child protection and safeguarding guidelines
- Experience in working with supporting students in their education on a 1:1 and a small group basis
Successful applicants will be required to complete an enhanced Child and Adult DBS disclosure and provide at least 2 references.
