TeacherActive is proud to be working in partnership with a specialist education provider based in Carrington, Nottingham. The provision supports learners aged 11–19 who face barriers to mainstream education, including SEND, SEMH needs and low prior attainment. The setting offers a nurturing, learner-centred environment where education is tailored to individual needs.
The ideal Functional Skills Tutor will deliver engaging and accessible Maths and English lessons from Entry Level to Level 2. You will work closely with learners to build confidence, improve academic skills and support progress towards EHCP and individual learning targets. This is a full-time, term-time-only role (Monday to Friday), with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
The successful Functional Skills Tutor will have:
- Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths and/or English
- Ability to adapt lessons to meet a wide range of learning styles and abilities
- Experience supporting learners with SEND, SEMH or additional needs
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- A compassionate, flexible and learner-focused approach
- Understanding of safeguarding and best practice when working with vulnerable learners
- A recognised teaching qualification (PTLLS, AET, Cert Ed or PGCE) – desirable
