How to prepare for a job interview at TeacherActive
✨Know Your ALN Stuff
Make sure you brush up on your knowledge of Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and the specific challenges that come with it. Be ready to discuss your training or experience in working with students who have autism, emotional and behavioural difficulties, or moderate learning difficulties. This shows you’re not just familiar with the terms but can apply them in real-life situations.
✨Show Your Calm and Nurturing Side
During the interview, demonstrate your calm and nurturing approach. Share examples from your past experiences where you successfully managed challenging behaviour or supported a student in need. This will help the interviewer see how you handle pressure and create a supportive environment for students.
✨Prepare for Scenario Questions
Expect scenario-based questions that assess your problem-solving skills and ability to support students with ALN. Think about specific situations you’ve faced and how you resolved them. Practising these responses can help you articulate your thoughts clearly during the interview.
✨Ask Thoughtful Questions
At the end of the interview, don’t forget to ask insightful questions about the school’s approach to ALN and how they support their teachers. This shows your genuine interest in the role and helps you gauge if the environment is the right fit for you.
