SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Benfleet, Essex

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming and supportive Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) School in Benfleet, Essex, who are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join their team.
The school supports children and young people with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and complex needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in SEND education, healthcare, residential care or support work who is passionate about helping young people develop their independence, communication and confidence.
The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant will be expected to:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs.
- Support pupils with their learning, communication, social development and emotional wellbeing.
- Assist with personal care and physical needs where required.
- Support pupils with challenging behaviour using positive behaviour management strategies.
- Work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
- Adapt activities to meet individual pupils' needs and abilities.
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning.
The ideal SEND Learning Support Assistant will have:
- Previous experience working with children or adults with SEND, whether in education, healthcare, care homes or residential settings.
- A patient, caring and understanding approach.
- Confidence supporting pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
- A willingness to assist with personal care where necessary.
- A relevant SEND, childcare or healthcare qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Full training and ongoing professional development.
