The school supports pupils aged 4–19 years and offers a nurturing, structured and highly individualised learning environment.

This is a permanent, term-time-only position, offering excellent opportunities to develop specialist skills in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), autism support and individualised education.

  • Complex learning and developmental needs

The school uses Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) alongside specialist teaching approaches and therapeutic support to help pupils develop communication, independence, confidence and essential life skills.

The Role

As an ABA Tutor, you will work closely with specialist teachers, ABA practitioners and therapists to deliver structured, individualised teaching and behaviour support programmes.

Your role will involve supporting pupils through personalised learning activities, helping them achieve meaningful developmental and educational progress.

Key responsibilities

  • Delivering structured 1:1 and small-group learning programmes tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Implementing ABA strategies, positive reinforcement and individualised teaching approaches.
  • Supporting children and young people with autism, SLD and complex learning difficulties.
  • Developing communication skills using visual aids, PECS, AAC systems and alternative communication methods where appropriate.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviours that challenge through positive, approved strategies.
  • Encouraging independence, social interaction and everyday life skills.
  • Monitoring and recording pupil progress against individual learning and developmental targets.
  • Supporting sensory-based activities, practical learning and structured classroom tasks.
  • Assisting pupils with personal care requirements where necessary.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and specialist support professionals.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with autism, SEND or complex learning difficulties.
  • Experience as an ABA Tutor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEND Support Worker or Behaviour Mentor.
  • An understanding of autism, communication difficulties and positive behaviour support.
  • Confidence supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour.
  • A patient, caring and compassionate approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • A willingness to assist pupils with personal care where required.
  • An interest in developing specialist knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analysis.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  • Previous ABA experience is desirable but not essential. Applications are welcomed from individuals with relevant SEND experience who are interested in developing their skills within a specialist school.
  • Candidates holding an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service would be particularly desirable, although this is not essential to apply.

  • Annual Salary: £20,623.20.
  • Term-Time Only: 38 working weeks per year.
  • Full-Time: Monday to Friday.
