About the Role

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Maths Lecturer to join a Further Education (FE) college in Birmingham on a long-term temporary basis. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching in GCSE Mathematics and Functional Skills Maths, helping learners achieve strong outcomes and build confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons in GCSE and Functional Skills Maths
  • Plan, prepare, and assess learning in line with awarding body requirements
  • Track learner progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Prepare students for exams and assessments
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to quality processes
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Essential Requirements

  • Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent)
  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics
  • Experience teaching GCSE and/or Functional Skills Maths in FE
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Desirable

  • Recent FE teaching experience
  • Experience working with post-16 learners
  • Ability to deliver engaging sessions to mixed-ability groups
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
