About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, adaptable and experienced Specialist SEN Teacher to join a supportive school in Felixstowe. The role involves delivering high‑quality, inclusive education for pupils with complex SEND needs, ensuring all learners can thrive and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver differentiated teaching for pupils with a wide range of complex SEND needs.
- Plan, adapt and implement engaging lessons across all areas of need including communication and interaction, cognition and learning, SEMH, and physical development.
- Assess, monitor and track pupil progress, providing strong outcomes for all learners.
- Support inclusive practice across the school and work collaboratively with teaching staff, support staff, parents and external professionals.
- Contribute to the wider school community and enrichment opportunities.
- Uphold and promote the values and ethos of the Trust.
- Lead on the identification, assessment and support of pupils with SEND in line with the SEND Code of Practice (2015).
- Monitor and report on provision and progress, maintaining accurate records.
- Provide guidance, training and support to staff to promote inclusive practice.
- Liaise with multi‑agency professionals, including educational psychologists and external services.
- Contribute to EHCP assessments and reviews.
- Support transitions between educational settings.
- Lead or contribute to pupil‑focused meetings, ensuring pupil and family voice is heard.
- Support and develop teaching staff and teaching assistants to improve SEN provision.
- Promote inclusion and equal opportunities across the school.
General Teaching Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality teaching in line with the Teachers’ Standards.
- Support school improvement priorities and self‑evaluation processes.
- Maintain high expectations of behaviour and achievement.
- Work collaboratively as part of a wider teaching team.
