Do you enjoy working 1:1 and making a measurable impact on a young person’s learning? Are you confident delivering personalised support to students with SEND? Do you want a rewarding role that offers flexibility and meaningful progress? TeacherActive are looking for dedicated and passionate SEND Tutors to work with students across the West Midlands who require additional, tailored support outside of the classroom. Learners may be based at home, in the community, at a local library, or within school as part of an alternative learning provision. You will be supporting students with a range of needs, including ASD, SEMH, ADHD, MLD, Dyslexia, and those with EHCPs who require bespoke learning packages.
Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised 1:1 sessions based on the student’s level, ability and learning plan.
- Support academic subjects such as English, Maths, and functional skills.
- Help pupils develop confidence, independence and emotional regulation.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual SEND requirements.
- Record progress, attendance and engagement for each session.
- Work collaboratively with parents, schools and external agencies.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
- Confidence delivering 1:1 sessions (in person).
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach.
- The ability to build trust and positive relationships quickly.
- Experience adapting learning for a range of abilities.
Desirable attributes
- QTS or experience teaching in schools.
- Level 3+ Teaching Assistant qualification.
- Degree in Education, Psychology or related subjects.
- Training in Autism, SEMH, Team Teach, Makaton, Dyslexia or mental health support.
- Experience in Alternative Provision or home tuition.
